About the Author - Adrienne van Dooren
Prior to becoming an artist, Adrienne van Dooren completed a 20 year career as an Army Officer. While in the military, she served in a variety of challenging positions: Terrorism Analyst, Secretary of Defense Fellow, Commander, and White House Aide. Adrienne particularly enjoyed her teaching undergraduate (California State University, Fullerton) level. She won CGSC Instructor of the Year in 1995. Upon retirement, Adrienne decided to combine her passion for teaching and her longtime love of art.
Adrienne holds a Masters Degree and has completed almost 800 hours of specialty training in faux finishing and decorative painting. She has studied at top faux schools across the US under master artists including: Kelly King, Nicola Vigini, Patrick Kirwin, Sean Crosby, Pierre Finkelstein and Melanie Royals.
Now an experienced faux finisher, artist, author, instructor and speaker, Adrienne has been invited to teach at studios across the country and to speak at national conferences to include Faux-cademy, the Faux Event, and SALI. She is a regular contributor to the Faux Finisher magazine and her work has been featured at the International Salon of Artists, television, and in national print (to include Decorating Solutions, HGTV, Costco Connection, and Paint Magic Magazine.)
While highly sought after by top designers for her faux and canvas art, Adrienne limits her commissioned work to pursue her passion for continuous learning, teaching, sharing information, and using art to benefit others. She is CEO of Creative Enterprises (www.cefaux.com) Artists' Cooperative, Chair of the House that Faux Built Project and is now in the process of forming a non-profit organization for future charitable art projects called Artists for Others.
